Halloween fashion vintage style doesn’t have to be all about polyester fabric and fake blood. When I was growing up the closest we got to Halloween was carving out a turnip. This gave my brother hives, so we never did it again!
Having children brings it into sharp focus. My son wasn’t that bothered but my daughter, well, every year she had to have a new outfit from a certain large supermarket (which is owned by an even bigger American supermarket). We had the trauma of “trick or treat” on cold evenings and then she decided to go out with her friends rather than with one of us.
Personally, I don’t like horror, so have avoided Halloween myself. I remember being totally traumatized at 14 years old watching Poltergeist at Darnall Green Club. I couldn’t sleep for a whole month and I still have an aversion to touching the TV!
However, an excuse to dress up, now that does appeal! Here at Miss Samantha’s Vintage I’ve had some fabulous ladies in the shop who look stunning in the fantastic range of Halloween friendly outfits we have to choose from. Think Halloween-chic!
Halloween work outfits, evening chic, or if you have children, when you’re out and about with them at their many Halloween events (yes I mean you there stressed out mum at the kids halloween party 😉 _). Why should the kids have all the fun?
So what do I wear?
Well, this tailored black dress from Pretty Retro is a go to dress for any occasion. So, so flattering and suits every shape and size. Add a brooch? Maybe the Collectif Spider Sam Brooch and some What Katie Did red satin gloves and you are well on the way to gothic chic.
The Hell Bunny Graciela 50’s Dress is Halloween themed and a supremely flattering style – full skirt, POCKETS, and a sweetheart neckline.
Where will we be?
Besides the fancy dress, I’m excited to say that Miss Samantha’s Vintage will be having a trade stall at the Velvet Burlesque Halloween Ball on Saturday the 27th of October. The Velvet Burlesque Halloween Ball is described as;
I’m very excited and to really ramp up the glamour of the evening. I’ll be taking along the long opera gloves and seamed stockings by What Katie Did, feather fans, lace face masks, gothic necklaces and earrings. Think sultry, think of a vampire Holly Golightly only without the fangs!
I’ll be wearing a new Vixen by Micheline Pitt dress, who stock amazingly flattering vintage style clothing. It’s the beautiful Vanity Fair in Spiderweb dress. Vixen by Micheline Pitt is a brand that I’m trying to get in to Miss Samantha’s Vintage. I think it would be a fantastic addition to the beautiful things I already have in the shop.
If you don’t like Halloween then maybe a new sparkly dress just for the weekend. Strictly come Dancing is on and now that’s excuse if there ever was one to get dressed up, now I have just the glittery dress for that too!
